About the Artwork: Suspended
Where I created this piece: Garda town, along Lago di Garda (Lake Garda) near the Italian Dolomites, Veneto, Italy.
What I love about this piece: The cluster of sailboats seem so eager and hopeful to set sail again, almost like they’ve been conversing about when their next grand adventure will be. I love the shape of the clouds: the formation they take, drawing your eye toward the very center of the piece and into the realm of possibility.
…There is a second, more somber meaning behind the creation of this piece: the sailboats are anchored alongside a beautiful town on Italy’s largest lake. However far they sail (and they can really set sail: the lake is stunningly expansive, taking most of the day to cross at high speed)… there they are: these boats can never truly explore beyond the bounds of the shoreline.
