About the Artwork: The Main Character
Where I created this piece: Petit Palais, Paris France.
What I love about this piece: The man in a trench coat is easy to mis, despite sitting in the very center of the scene. The architecture beautifully frames the two women in velvety shadow (and the man, too). I especially love the Parisian coat of arms carved into the architecture of the Petit Palais: a boat with the phrase ‘fluctuat nec mergitur’ (‘she is tossed by the waves but doesn’t sink’).
