About the Artwork: Mindset
Repetitive, endless rows of mediative arches: oranges, soft-yellow ochres, and hints of terracotta reds create an inviting and tempting winding pathway to somewhere just out of reach.
Where I created this piece: Portico di San Luca, Bologna, Italy.
What I love about this piece: The visual symbolism is both deeply tied to the importance of place in this artwork, and then transcends it far beyond the bounds of the portico’s protective shades: I created this piece along the longest series of covered archways in the world, the 4 km-long (2.5 mile) Portico di San Luca: a deceptive mental and physical challenge and meditative journey up a mountainside to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca. …Yet the imagery of the repetitive porticos challenges us with something that transcends beyond San Luca. Every step is connected on this pathway: movement and action with stunning, quiet beauty and purpose.

✴︎ Artwork Size: the size of the art print itself is 1.1 x .8 inches (2 x 1.5 inches framed). I print each piece here in my studio - it may be tiny, but the details are on full display. (I do love how a small piece of art can really pull you in!).
Tiny Details: Hand-Painted Frame & Canvas Backing
✴︎ Framing: I’ve hand-painted the frame in a gorgeous deep iridescent bronze, which beautifully picks up the light from different angles around the room.
✴︎ Canvas Backing: The canvas backing is also painted in the same shade of iridescent bronze, creating a beautiful back to the ornament, should it show itself a bit on your tree.
✴︎ Velvet Ribbon: I’ve selected a beautiful velvet ribbon to tie around the sturdy triangle hook on the back of your frame. You can remove this ribbon if you choose to use the piece as a small finishing touch to a gallery wall instead of as an ornament!
